Michael Jordan’s Shoes

As of today to have everyone wearing your shoes, to be listed the best in the NBA history it’s very hard and challenging because everyone will tell you that Michael has their respect. Michael Jordan is a very important person, especially when it comes to shoes and basketball. He has about a million pairs of shoes and everyone wears them. Started in 1985 where Jordan came out with his 1st shoe. His designers really did all of the work but on the court he did the work.

His designers were all kind of different races and genders for example one man was from Venezuela and one was from Haiti. Aston Martin, Tinker Hatfield are the latest designers but Tate Kuebis is who designed every Air Jordan model up to the 15th. But the other two did work on his shoes also. Being Michael Jordan’s designer is probably the best thing in the world. You design a shoe put the Jordan symbol on it and ask Michael if he likes them. To me that’s an easy and fun job. I can relate to that because I am creative and I love Michael Jordan.

There are plenty of people as of today no matter the age wise still wear Air Jordan’s. I have seen old men with them on. No matter the age I’ve seen a lot of people with Jordan’s on their feet. Starting from the age of an infant to old men. People like Jordan’s because I guess they are different. Some people play basketballs in them because that’s what they really are made for but some people wear them just to be wearing them.

The first pair of Jordan’s that was first designed in 1985 colors was red, black and white because that’s the Bulls uniform color. He started with one pair and now he’s at number 22. That’s 22 pair of shoes that came out to the public and do you knows how many pair’ sells in every city and state every time they come out? Millions and millions in each state buy his shoes. From Jordan 1-22 he probably has sold over 50 million pairs of shoes.

There are different kinds of Jordan’s. You have the Trainers, the Air Jordan’s, the Retro Jordan’s, and the Jumpmans. Most of Jordan’s that come out really doesn’t match his uniform. The Air Jordan’s usually comes out with colors to match his uniform but the Retro’s and the Jumpmans and the other Jordan’s that come out are basically whatever color the designer wants to make them. Most of Air Jordans come out is either black red or white, or they’ll have either color in them. Sometimes Air Jordans is different colors but most of the time they come out they’re to match his uniform.

Roy Jones Jr. is a boxer that is sponsored by Jordan so he wears Jordan’s boxing shoes. There are nearly about 30 people in the NBA are sponsored by his apparel. Sponsoring by Jordan is really a privilege if you ask me. People who wear his shoes be the ones that stand out in the NBA, MLB, or the NFL. They are like the top shoes, cleats, and sandals in each sport.
Jordan’s shoe even leads to accessories like headbands, socks, cloths, towels, bed sheets, pillowcases, etc. There are billions and billions of people who wear the Jordan shoes and the brand every day, including me. Most of the Jordan’s I have at home are Retro’s and Air Jordan’s because those are the one’s he, Michael Jordan wears and admire the most. But I love the name Jordan period.

Modernism Project

1. I really don’t know what Modernism is, I mean I have some kind of clue because I can’t find a good definition or good examples, all I get is a lot of confusing definitions and words. I guess it’s more like old theological tendencies and characteristics. But I picked Psychoanalysis, I can’t find a good definition for this word either. But I got some info from Wikipedia saying it’s a family of psychological theories and methods based on the work of Sigmund Freud, more like a technique. I look forward into seeing crazy analysis because that’s what psycho means. But it may means something different.
2. This story was very interesting. It was about this man who drives his wife to the hairdresser to get her hair done. Then he realizes he has a couple of errands. So he tries to run his errands before her hair gets done. During all of this time, he has been daydreaming about being the most heroic person ever.
The first day he was a US Nave Pilot flying in a storm. Then he is a surgeon who’s performing a one of a kind surgery. Then in the courtroom he’s a testifier, testifying a case. And then he was in the RAF (Royal Air Force) volunteering for a dare stunt. At the end he is daydreaming about-facing a fire squad.
The story wasn’t really what I expected. I though that the story was going to be about someone analyzing crazy things that’s going on in the real world or wherever they are. In this story you can tell that the writer gave the main character Walter Mitty trends to come up with his own type of environment.
3. Richard Corey- is about a man who is very attractive. He just was all that. People stared at him when he walked down the street. Clean favored, and imperially slimed. He ends up killing himself for no reason. Money cant buy you happiness, that the same example for disillusionment.
Mending Wall- this poem is very good. I like the way they wrote this poem. They used the main word wall but in a million kinds of ways. They used it like rappers use their lyrics, in many ways as they can.
The Negro Speaks of River- is basically the struggle of slavery. How we colored people go through hard time. He is letting the reader know that he is the going through hard time now as he reads this poem. Like the Harlem Renaissance.
Incident- this story is about slavery. About how this man called him a Negro because he smiled and wanted to speak to the man. It shows how whites used to do blacks during the time of slavery. To me I think that this poem fit modernism because it comes from the past. It may mean that he has some kind of problem because Psychoanalysis means a method for mental process.
A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes is good. Its really explaining on how things can go just about any kind of way you put it. Depending on how you take it. What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore, and then run? See, when you read this it makes you think about how things can happen in all the ways its possible. I really don’t see how this has anything to do with Modernism. The only way I can say it got to do with modernism is

Realism Project

1. A Story of an Hour
a> This paragraph explains good details too, it gives a setting also. But to me, I think that when she was explaining the details she lacked. Some one was opening the front door with a latchkey. It was Brently Mallard who entered, a little travel-stained, composedly carrying his grip-sack and umbrella. He had been far from the scene of accident, and did not even know there had been one. He stood amazed at Josephine's piercing cry; at Richards' quick motion to screen him from the view of his wife.

b> The social issue was that Kate’s husband die, and she doesn’t know how to handle it. She was like a wife overlooked by her husband. This story was basically a joy that kills.
2. Fredrick Douglass story Negro Breaker
a> This paragraph is a good example, it gives all details and explain all ways. No thinking in this paragraph the details is already there. It details the actions that are going on and a little about the setting. Sunday was my only leisure time. I spent this in a sort of beast- like stupor, between sleep and wake, under some large tree. At times I would rise up, a flash of energetic freedom would dart through my soul, accompanied with a faint gleam of hope that flickered for a moment, and then vanished. I sank down again, mourning over my wretched condition. I was sometimes prompted to take my life and that of Covey, but was prevented by a combination of hope and fear. Mr. Edward Covey, the slave owner. Bill Smith, William Hughes, Eli and the narrator are the slaves. Bill runs away for about a week because Mr. Covey kicks and abuses him. On the journey meeting new people asking them should he go back? When he returns he basically gives Mr. Covey a fight for his manhood.
b> To me Fredrick Douglass wanted to let his knowledge out about how he thinks it should really happen. Slavery is realism because it was the real world back then, and it explain how it happened in details that gives you good enough of information to understand it.
3. My example is of course a verse from my favorite rapper Jay-Z. He is realism period, his hole Blueprint Album. Because it details his life and how it really is in the hood. Not acting but reality. In one of his verse on The Black album, on this song call Lucifer. He talks about the devil. It goes,
"Lord forgive him, he got them dark forces in him
But he also got a righteous cause for sinnin
Them-a-murder me, so I gotta murder-dem
First emergency, doctors performing procedures
Jesus, I ain't tryin to be facetious, but
"Vengeance is mine" said the Lord
You said it better than all
Leave n***** on death's door, breathing on
res-por-rators for killin my best, poor haters
On permanent, hi-atus as I skate
in the Maybach Benz, flyer than Sanaa Lathan
Pumpin "Brown Sugar" by D'Angelo
In Los Angeles, like an evangelist
I can introduce you to your maker
Bring you closer to nature
Ashes after they cremate you bastards
Hope you been readin your Psalms and chapters
Payin your tithe, bein good Catholics, I'm comin". I like the way he used Lucifer in a good way even though it’s crazy. Realism is a perfect word for this song and Album because it shows the real world using realistic facts, but at the same time it shoes details, and what ifs about the real world.

Dark Romanticism

Dark Romanticism

What is an original sin? Original sin is the Adam and Eve story. When you are sin basically breaking god’s rule. Even though people do it ever day. Sin is something god can forgive only if you really want him to.
How did the Transcendentalism feel about it? Really Transcendentalism felt like what someone do doesn’t change everything. Just because Adam and Eve committed a sin doesn’t mean all of us are sinners. They believed that ones mind is always different in some kind of way.
Nathaniel Hawthorne
Wanted to be a good man, he isn’t like his great grandfather who had hung nineteen people and two dogs. He felt that everyone sin they could be forgave. But Nathaniel’s grandfather wanted to be an evil man.
Herman Melville
He felt that if all men were like him, if all men were to see the cannibals, then they wouldn’t have ate the men flesh.
Edgar Allen Poe
No matter what his family did bad or good. He wanted to do better then his family. Even though they disowned him, he still believed in himself. Even though today he would be considered crazy, he still wanted to be successful
I am more a transcendentalist. Dark Romantic means that you are evil but at the same time you are trying to be nice towards the world. Transcendentalist is more of a Christian type. I fall into a Transcendentalist because I believe the same, just because Adam and Eve sinned, doesn’t mean everyone is sinners.
3. And 4. Hop Frog- I think that the story Hop Frog was good, but I didn’t like his ways, him or his wife Trippetta. The king and his servants were ok, they love to joke around all day and make fun of each other and especially scaring the guess. Hop Frog is a dwarf, he was given the name because he could walk. This story can relate to Dark Romanticism because of the characters. The King and his servants are mean and love to make fun of people. I don’t think a transcendentalist would do that.
With the beliefs of Dark Romanticism Hop Frog was really like a fairy tale. Transcendentalist believed that all humans were pure and good, and that the voice of god comes from people thoughts and intuition.
In this story the dark romantic beliefs were clearly noticeable. Dark Romanticism is basically the opposite of Transcendentalist. They believe that god is really just like one of us, which he is but somehow different.
5. This poem is catchy. It has punch lines that will make you turn your head. The Raven is really a poem about a man (narrator) who’s describing in a different way in which his love passed away. These lines caught me the second time I read them. "Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before, But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore?" This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Lenore!"--Merely this and nothing more.
This poem represents a anti-transcendentalist because in the poem the narrator is speaking his mind himself. God is not telling him to do what he’s doing or say what he is saying. His intuition mind makes him speak what he feels.
Interesting Facts and Information on Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe in 1995 invented a PC (computer) game, jus like making a novel but he put it in a computer game format. It’s a point and click adventure game. It’s basically about this man who murders his wife. It’s like a mystery/adventure.
Dr. E. Snodgrass was the man who found Edgar Allen Poe dead on the streets in Baltimore. He was taken to the Washing College Hospital Saturday night and stayed 1 night where the next morning on Sunday, October 7, 1849 at 5:00am I the morning he couldn’t hold on any more, he passed.

Writing 4 -Persuasive- JAY-Z (The Best Rapper Alive)

Writing 4 Persuasive (2 pgs)
Why he is The Best Rapper Alive
Jay-Z
Sean Corey Carter a.k.a. Jay-Z was born on Dec 4, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York. He is an American rapper and current president and CEO of Def Jam and Rocafella. He also owns part of the New Jersey Nets basketball franchise and he also own Rocafella clothing line. He released his debut album on June 25 1996, which was Reasonable Doubt, which went platinum. He is now considered one of the most successful hip-hop artists in the world, financially too. Jay-Z grew up broke, he and his family down and out for so many years. Growing up in Marcy Projects where him and his mom struggled an everyday life in the ghetto trying to survive. She’d always say that Sean was just so special from everyone. He stood out from the crowd, even from his own brothers and sisters.
So many people look up to him as the king. Most rappers as of today just make him look like the don. He seems like a king to everybody in the rap industry. So many people use his name as one of the best rapper alive. Other people get looked at different because of their ways. Like the other rappers for example, and how they express themselves. Majority of the people compares him to the greatest, and a lot of people compare the greatest to him. He just has it all. Most people use his style and swagger. From the lyrics to the expression of himself, like that song called December 4th, where he starts off with his mom saying his date of birth and how much he’d weigh. I liked that; it was like a storyteller, which is on his Blueprint album. He basically can put his life on a beat and make it into music. Jay-Z already knows he’s the best. He has no more to accomplish because he did it all. Put it like this, who ever your favorite rapper is, Jay-Z is his favorite rapper. People feel so comfortable when they listen to his music. He has eleven albums out as of today, and nine of them went platinum, the others gold, and a couple went double and triple. But that’s just another way I can proove he’s the best rapper alive.
The way he retired for a couple months and came back so calm and smooth made me admire his swagger a little more. He knew these other rappers just held it down for him while he was gone. "I just all of a sudden wanted to cool down for a little and let others shine, not saying that I purposely did it, its something just happens," Jay-Z said in a article in the Jet Black magazine.
When being the best rapper alive, money is involved, because when you’re on the radio every day, and most of your CD’s and albums go platinum or gold, you get a good amount of money. Financially Jay-Z is the most successful out of all of emcees, artists/actors, producers, DJ’s and other people like that. This guy has a $90 million private jet. Money isn’t a problem to this man. He literally can wipe his butt with 100 dollars bills. I’m guessing that he’d probably be in the top fifty world’s richest male. Probably near thirty or thirty-five something like that but out of 100 billion people across the world I mean that’s good.
All of his albums you can just put in the boom box and let it ride out, play all songs from the intro to the outro non-stop no skipping or fast-forwarding. For example, on his Blueprint album, the song HOVA. The one where it goes, H to the izzo, V to the Izza, that song stayed on the radio, computer, countdowns, and some of everywhere. His music just makes me bob my head regardless of what type of beat he’s rapping off of. His rhythm and his way of putting words on a simple or confusing beat. In that song I was talking about earlier on the Blueprint album, his mom had an interlude on the song and this is what it says. Interlude: Gloria Carter] – "{talking} "Shawn used to be in the kitchen, beating on the table and rapping And umm, into the wee, which is the late hours of the morning, And then I brought him a boombox And his sisters and brothers said that he would drive them nuts But, that was my way to keep him close to me, and out of trouble" Then Jay Z’s verse comes in. {Verse Three}: {Jay-Z} "Goodbye to the game all the spoils, the adrenaline rush Your blood boils, you in a spot, knowin cops could rush at you in the drop, you so easy to touch No two days are alike, except the 1st and 15th pretty much And trust, is a word you seldom hear from us Hustlers, we don't sleep, we rest one eye up And a drought could define a man when the well dries up You learn the worth of water Without work you thirst 'til you die YUP! And n!g&@s get tied up for product And little brothers ring fingers get cut up to show mothers they really got 'em And this is the stress I lived with 'til I decided to try this rap s#!% for a living I pray I'm forgiven for every bad decision I made Every sister I played cause I'm still paranoid to this day And it's nobody fault, I made the decisions I've made This is the life I chose, or rather the life that chose me If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black Now if you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black". {Fading out}
It’s like when you hear his music it just sound so different and odd, but at the same time he is telling you his life and how things happen, and how things can happen. I mean he isn’t that gangster type thug. He is more like a laid back relaxing artist who gets the job done, but at the same time from the hood, and shows it in a general way if needed.
If you have reputation and respect from everybody, especially the rap industry itself, the lyrics and everything else, to me makes him the best rapper alive. Anybody and everybody can call their self-the best rapper alive but you have to prove it, so he proved it. Jay-Z gave the crowd what they want, and what matters the most is they got what they paid for. He gave the audience a good performance, and then he was on the every countdown for a long time. People who know him and people who don’t know him just see and list him the best rapper alive. Jigga what?

Transcendentalism

Transcendentalism

What is an original sin? Refers to when Adam and Eve slept together.

How did the Puritans feel about the original sins? They felt like it isn’t any other way, a man is born a sinner.

How did the rationalists differ from the puritans? They both had different thoughts about how they live their life.

What is romanticism? It is really the way he talk to people

Scenarios

The first scenario is related to Transcendentalism because when you are making a decision yourself it is the best that you think, not anyone else. But when you are making a choice to really benefit you, others and the mind it is transcendentalism.
The second scene is related in a good way. This boy and his peoples wants him to go to lawyer school to be a lawyer but he doesn’t really feel that this is best for him, he feels that being a school teacher is more better, more important than a lawyer in other words a good example of transcendentalism

I choose scenario 2.
I probably would have gone with the lawyer career. I mean god didn’t make him feel that way for nothing. I know that his family and friends want him to go on and be a lawyer, but if he don’t feel that that is the best for him then he needs to do what he think is best for him and not what his people say because they’re not the ones taking the lessons, lectures and going to lawyer school or what ever he has to prepare for. Transcendentalism wouldn’t have much bad to say, he would say the best for this scene. I think that this scene is best for transcendentalism. His family wants him to do whats best for him, something that’s going to benefit him more. But the only thing is his family wants him to be a lawyer but he wants to be a school teacher.

American Romanticism

The reason i picked this picture because it made me think about what is going on. It made me think what if i was in this picture, what would i be doing at the moment. I pretended that i was in Heaven in this picture and i could of wrote a hole story. Thats how i know it is a good romanticism picture. It also relates to romanticism because it looks imaginative which is basically what romanticism is, just pretend you on the scene, what would you be doing, and what all could you be doing or what all could be done. It takes alot of thinking.

American Romanticism Project

1. This story about Rip was crazy. Rip fell asleep for 20 something years. I think that was so pretty funny. He fell asleep by mistake basically because he’d gotten intoxicated with the fellows from the other villages because he thought they had needed help, but really they didn’t, so when they started drinking they asked Rip Van Wrinkle did he mind.
When he woke up, he found himself on a green knoll. He woke up looking for his gun but he only found a firelock lying beside him. He was thinking that the grave roysterers took him out, or stole his goods and last but not least the dog was gone too.
2. I think that this was romantic a little bit. Thinking about what it would be like. It is easily expressing. His wife was a great lady. She did whatever he asked. They both were happy together they never were sad or mad at each other. He said she was a good wife. It can be emotionless if you put it as an imagination. Like expressing ones heart but not on purpose.
3. This poem is emotional. It can express your feelings sort of like romanticism. It can lead you to a long imagination like a fantasy story or something. And then it is descriptive too. It’s also descriptive, it is really exciting and interesting to read because of the style. It makes you think, just like a romanticism. If you have a good imagination these stories could relate to you very well.

4. The point of this poem is that he is basically showing the reader a way of using his imagination. I don’t know if he is bored or he is just like being imaginative. I guess when you do that, time flies. It makes your occupation easier or whatever.
None really stood out. I think they all were pretty interesting but none really stood out. They all basically express the same thing. They are imaginative to me, especially if you like using your imagination. When using your imagination about ropes while working can make it easier for you and others, but at the same time you’re getting the job done.
It’s a good example of Romanticism because the employee is using his imagination to the max. He is really putting your mind into a whole another place. It’s a noun, a person, place or thing.
When you compare this poem and romanticism, you can get a lot if things in common. They both are imaginative, they both make you think. Then they also both can be easy to express your way of seeing something.
When you are romanticism you can say it’s fake, not really fake but sort of like pretending. Something that’ not impossible, but hasn’t happened yet.
5. When I look at this picture, it makes me think about what all could be going on. It makes me think, what if I was just stuck right in the middle of the picture with nothing to eat or drink. But then, it looks like heaven. It makes you use your imagination. You can’t read this story and get it without using at least a little bit of your imagination.
